This hexagonal pewter jar has an architectural form characteristic of the transition from Swedish Grace to early Functionalism. Raised on small rounded feet and topped with an embossed fitted lid, its pared-back geometry is softened by a gentle patina developed over time. The piece exhibits a quiet material presence typical of Scandinavian interwar metalwork. An engraved inscription reading “1882 3/8 1932” suggests it was commissioned as a 50th anniversary presentation piece, likely given to mark a retirement or personal milestone. The piece is in good condition, with wear commensurate with age. The lid sits slightly askew. Marked “TENN” to the underside and dated 1931.

Béton Brut
Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
