Adalaj ni Vav Rug
- Description
-
The Adlaj ni Vav rug draws inspiration from the ancient stepwells of India; historical architectural structures that carry cultural and spiritual significance. Expertly handknotted in Nepal using Himalayan wood, the cotton-silk blend rug takes its cues from the stepwell built by Mahmud Bedaga in 1411 to commemorate Queen Rudabai.
This is an exclusive rug collection inspired by India's ancient stepwells, a vital component of India's architectural, cultural, and social history. The collection is produced by cc-tapis, who are renowned for their strong focus and respect for natural materials, and commitment to the environment. This is reflected in their eco technique, where everything is handmade by expert artisans following ancient traditional techniques, each rug passes through many hands.
The collection is at the heart of Shalini Misra Design's principles, which strives to celebrate all cultures and community. We believe rugs have a unifying power, serving to bring people together and act as grounding elements for both entertaining and everyday living. This draws parallels with the historical use of stepwells, the fundamental heart of community.
